Albert Munro Dykes was born in 1936 at Crossford Farm near Moniaive. In 1967 he established ‘Dykes of Wallaceton’ and started providing machinery services to the local Agricultural sector. In 1997 Berts’ sons, Fraser and Trevor, took over the business and at the same time changed the business name to AMD Contract Services Ltd. On the 1st of December 2016 Fraser Dykes took over the company as AMD’s sole managing director.
Initially AMD operated solely within the agricultural sector but has since continually expanded and diversified, first into the Forestry Market in the late 1990’s in response to local demand and then a further step was made into the Construction Industry.

All staff are trained to have the necessary certification required for each machine they operate. Training is managed by Skillko, an external training, safety & compliance management company who provide certificate management, training management and analytical insight on the company’s skills gap. All certification is regularly reviewed under the CITB Training Development Plan which AMD Contract Services Ltd has membership of. In addition to CITB membership the company is proud to have achieved Achillies Silver Plus Award, Contructionline Gold, Acclaim SSIP and FORS Bronze. Most recently the company has achieved the prestigious awards of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management and is in the process of undergoing audits to achieve ISO45001. Health, Safety Environment and Quality are an integral part of our training programme and continuous improvement in each of these areas is an ongoing priority within the business for both our Managers and Operators.
